The figure, the father of all strains of Morgan, was born in Massachusetts in 1789. It is believed that was slightly less than the height of Horses nearly 14hh, and has been recognized for its ability to transmit the hereditary qualities shape, presence and agility, which is an excellent choice to start the race. He died aged 32 years, and during his life became known under the name "Justin Morgan" and if the race is often called "the Justin Morgan horse."
