If you are planning a tailgating party, Memorial Day cookout, or just firing up the barbecue grill in the back yard. Cornhole is the game you will want to have. Anyone can play and the rules are pretty simple.
If you have played the game horse shoes then you should catch on pretty quickly. If you haven’t played horseshoes, no problem. Here are the basic rules of Cornhole. Each player tosses four 6″x6″ cloth cornhole bags filled with dried corn or synthetic beads at a cornhole board that has a 6″ hole cut in the top of the cornhole board that has legs to raise the top of the board to give it a 12″ slope.
You can play with two players or four players on each team. You get one point if your bag lands on the cornhole board and 3 points if your cornhole bag goes in the hole which is a cornhole. Each team continues to throw their cornhole bags till one of the teams reach the score of 21.
The box for the pitcher should be 3′ x 4′ and are on each side of the boards in a parallel fashion. Cornhole players have to stay in the pitcher’s box when pitching their bags.
If you are going to have multiple courts they need to be spaced at least 10′ x 12′ apart to lessen distractions.
One big advantage over horseshoes and lawn darts(remember those?) is they are kid friendly. You can have a great time playing this family friendly cornhole game and feel comfortable getting the kids involved and not worrying about any one getting injured by flying metal horseshoes or lawn darts.
